February and March marked Hands4Hope’s annual toiletries collection and, wow! We are so grateful for all of the support and donations that we received! Check out full descriptions of each of these collection events below:
The Toiletries Drive
This year, the Hands4Hope Toiletries Drive was hosted at Silva Valley and William Brooks Elementary Schools. During this time, Hands4Hope places large blue containers outside of the schools’ offices for individuals to drop off toiletries. The school that collects the most toiletries overall receives the “Traveling Trophy” to mark their win.
Silva Valley Elementary collected the most toiletries this year, totaling 102.3 POUNDS in donations! 61.1 lbs. of toiletries were donated by William Brooks and 59.2 lbs. through community donations generating a grand total of 222.6 lbs. of toiletries collected overall!
The Toiletries Scavenger Hunt
The Toiletries Scavenger Hunt is a one-day outreach event planned and hosted by high school leaders. The event was hosted on February 24th this year by Allison Simko and Brayden Kono, and had 15 youth participants who traveled door to door in search of toiletries. In total, Hands4Hope youth collected 98.4 pounds of toiletries in 2 hours! WOW!
All donations collected during these two events will be donated to homeless individuals and families in need. One of Hands4Hope’s biggest outreaches, the Homeless Outreach, regularly provides toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, chapstick, feminine hygiene products, and sunscreen to individuals who utilize the Sacramento Loaves & Fishes. The donations collected during the “Toiletries Month” will directly support this event.
Thank you to all who participated and donated!
