This month’s youth spotlight is Annabel Maguire. Annabel is an 11th grader who is part of the H4H club at El Dorado High School. Find out more about Annabel, below!
What is your school and grade? Also, how long have you been involved with H4H?
I attend El Dorado High School and I am in 11th grade and I got involved with Hands 4 Hope the summer of 2019.
Why did you join Hands4Hope?
I joined Hands 4 Hope because I wanted to be more active in my community, learn, and meet more like minded people.
How has Hands4Hope helped you in school, with your friends and family, and in life?
Hands 4 Hope has helped me realize how easily a small group of people in a community can make a difference and how it is important to give back to the area you are from. It also has helped me shape my leadership qualities and discover my strengths as well as how to strengthen my weaknesses.
What has your experience been like since joining?
Hands 4 Hope has introduced me into some of the people that I value most in my life and created life long relationships for me. The students in the club inspire me to always give back and that by working together we can achieve more than imagined.
Is there anything else that you would like to add about your experiences with Hands4Hope?
Before joining Hands 4 Hope I never thought it would have the big impact on my life that it did. It has showed me that I can take on more if I manage my time right, and that I can always rely on the people in the club to support my ideas and be there for me. Hands 4 Hope has clearly shown me the most impactful way to help my community and how I can easily help those who are less fortunate than me.
How has having Hands4Hope at your school made a difference?
Hands 4 Hope has helped more kids in my community become in touch with the issues facing our community as well as get them more involved with community service outreach. It also has introduced me to so many people at my school that I had never met before.
