More than 200 guests ate, danced, and celebrated the 15th year of Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference during the “Volcano Island”-themed Endless Summer Beach Party on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Village Green Park in Serrano, El Dorado Hills.
This is the largest fundraiser of the year for Hands4Hope, and altogether raised $189,000 to fund the organization’s life-changing programs that build skills and confidence for youth while helping fill unmet needs for our community.
A highlight of the evening was hearing Youth Board President Mishti Shah and Alumni Haley Lehtola speak about the role that Hands4Hope has played in their lives as they move into adulthood and careers; as well as hearing Hands4Hope parent and incoming Board Member Carey Moreno-Hunt talk about her son Ian’s touching experience overcoming obstacles and finding his place in the Hands4Hope community. You can view their presentations here.
VOLCANO ISLAND RESCUE CASTAWAYS
Distinguished community members, alumni, and supporters volunteered to pose as “castaways” who were stranded on “Volcano Island” and needed “bail” to fund their rescue. Every single one of our castaways was rescued from Volcano Island, exceeding their goal of $60K! Thanks to the incentive of $61,000 in matching funds from our Big Kahuna sponsors, the castaways raised $74,940 in Rescue Bail funds, bringing this portion of the fundraiser to a whopping $135,940!
These funds will help pay for the facilitation of Hands4Hope’s on-campus service learning clubs, impacting more than 360 students directly and hundreds more on middle and high school campuses from Folsom to Placerville, in addition to those impacted by their projects.
Our castaways were:
Andrea and Tom Howard, Hands4Hope Board Chair
Heather Edwards, Board Vice Chair, and Vince Mini
Shannon and Jon Yoffie, Yoffie Real Estate Group
Doug Shupe, Camerado Springs Middle School Principal
The Hunt Family, Hands4Hope Incoming Board Member and Participants
