The Upper Room is a local organization that provides daily meals, outreach services and friendship to the underserved in our community of Placerville. The Upper Room feeds over a 100 people daily! A daily hot meal and lunch are only a part of our program. We offer Navigation services to assist in obtaining various services throughout the County (housing, recovery programs, etc), legal aid, laundry and showers, medical services and pet care. We welcome everyone who comes through our door. We are grateful to our community and dedicated volunteers for making the Upper Room a place where everyone is treated with respect and dignity regardless of their particular situation.
Hands4Hope- Youth Making A Difference was a natural fit for the Upper Room. Getting youth involved in community service is important to us. We are fortunate to partner with a committed organization that places a high value on compassionate service to our community.
The parents and young people of Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference have been wonderful! Cheerfully serving and giving of their time and talents, they are truly a great group of people who go above and beyond. We are currently serving well over 100 people each day. Since COVID, our numbers have increased dramatically as more people are food insecure. We have been providing takeout meals which include an entree, a side salad, dessert and water. All of this has to be assembled in takeout containers, bagged, and passed out. The youth with Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference assist in every part of this service, from assembling the takeouts to handing out the meals. Recently, our dining room has been reopened in a limited capacity and we are able to serve meals inside. Again, Hands4Hope youth participate by serving, bussing, and cleaning the dining room. Our guests always respond so positively to the young people who serve..they are thankful to see young people serving and taking an interest in them. It really means a lot.
