Sponsor Spotlight | Doug Veerkamp General Engineering

Updated: Nov 12

Doug Veerkamp General Engineering is a mid-sized family owned and operated construction company specializing in excavation, grading, paving, underground utilities, rockery walls and trucking. Over its 40 years in business, DVGE has grown from a small operation to one of the largest employers in El Dorado County, always prioritizing quality work, honesty and integrity. "We are so very grateful for our partnership with and the generous support of Doug Veerkamp General Engineering and Matt and Gretchen Veerkamp in providing Hands4Hope's life changing programs to youth in El Dorado County. In addition to their program sponsorship, they have given of their personal time to raise funds for Hands4Hope and other youth programs by providing fun and festive experiences for families with hay rides at the Hands4Hope Fall Festival in El Dorado Town Center and down Placerville's Main Street during the Christmas season. It is clear that the Veerkamps cherish this community and value providing programs that support the youth in it," says Jennifer Bassett, Hands4Hope Founder and Executive Director.

Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference is so appreciative of your long time partnership! Why do you continue to support Hands4Hope and how does our mission to inspire and empower youth in leadership and service fit your current goals?

We love that Hands4Hope empowers the youth in our community. It gives them the tools to first recognize a need in their community, then formulate a plan and take action to address these needs. Hands4Hope instills leadership and problem solving skills along with qualities of hard work and service that we as a company also value. The youth involved in Hands4Hope are our future community leaders and by investing in them we are investing in the future of El Dorado County.

Is there anything else that you would like to add about Hands4Hope or your amazing support for our community?

Over the years we have watched the Hands4Hope Fall Festival grow into the highly successful event that it is today and we are yet again honored to be a part of it. Every year we look forward to the opportunity to pull the hay rides through El Dorado Hills Town Center with our antique tractor. We continue to support Hands4Hope- Youth Making a Difference because the service they provide our community through our youth is vital and unmeasurable.

Addision Hunt, the Hands4Hope youth participant who served as the 2024 Fall Festival Volunteer Management Chair, said, “The hay rides were a fun and engaging activity for the kids to be able to see all of El Dorado Hills Town Center during fall. They were so excited to be pulled by a real tractor!”
