Hands4Hope embodies the very essence of the organizations we seek to support. It fosters the well-being of our local community, while simultaneously nurturing the growth and education of local youth. In essence, by supporting Hands4Hope, we're investing in the future of El Dorado County, a place we've called home for two decades. This special community has enriched our lives in countless ways, and we hope for it to continue flourishing as a beautiful and peaceful place for generations to come. It's important that the younger folks growing up here appreciate the advantages this community provides many of them. Hands4Hope cultivates this understanding, instilling in them the sense of responsibility and the skills to extend a helping hand to those less fortunate.
How do you see our shared commitment to serving the local community so important as we emerge from challenging times?
Of all those impacted by the pandemic's hardships, children and youth endured the toughest sacrifices – vital years for growth, socialization, and self-discovery were irrevocably altered. Hands4Hope offers young people a lifeline, a chance to gain essential life skills that could have easily been lost while they were isolated from their communities. The organization facilitates peer interactions, cultivates teamwork toward shared objectives, celebrates triumphs, and fosters the resilience to face adversity.
What is your favorite thing about Hands4Hope?
Our favorite thing about Hands4Hope, other than Jen [Jennifer Bassett, Hands4Hope Founder and Executive Director], has been watching the organization grow and spread into new communities, areas where the Hands4Hope mission might have an even more profound impact than it has had in our community.

Through our business, we have the good fortune to work with and become friends with families throughout the area. Not only do we meet the buyers, but we usually get the opportunity to get to know their children as well. One of the important roles we play for families new to the area is as ambassadors for our community and to help them fall in love with the area the same way we did 20 years ago. That means introducing families to our local schools, parks, sports organizations, and other extracurricular opportunities. Their ears always perk up when we talk about Hands4Hope and its mission to enable youth to make a difference in their community. Most did not have a similar organization in their previous town and are excited to learn more about the opportunities that Hands4Hope offers.
