For over ten years, with a shared mission to invest in our youth and their future, U.S. Bank has been a valued partner and supporter of Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference. Through opportunities like the Financial Literacy & Job Preparedness workshop, which 26 of our youth attended in January, U.S. Bank is providing youth with skills and information to give them a strong start toward a healthy financial foundation and entrance into the workforce. Why do you continue to support Hands4Hope and how does our mission to inspire and empower youth in leadership and service fit your current goals? At U.S. Bank we are committed to listening and learning from the community and those with lived experience, taking action and moving beyond philanthropy to engage the human and financial resources of the bank in our work to help power human potential and make community possible. We do this through our philanthropy, community investments and our people. Through our “Community Possible” giving platform, we invest our time, resources, and passion in economic development by supporting efforts to create stable jobs (work), better homes (home) and vibrant communities (play). Hands4Hope recently received a corporate contribution grant from the U.S. Bank Foundation under our “work” giving pillar. The grant will help fund the participation of 75 youth leaders who attend the Annual Hands4Hope Middle and High School Leadership Camps U.S. Bank also supports Hands4Hope through volunteerism and financial literacy education workshops. How do you see our shared commitment to serving the local community as so important during these challenging times? The U.S. Bank team is very committed to Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference, with local Community Affairs Manager Pamela Maxwell serving over the last decade as a past Board Member and Board Chair, and currently serving on the Placerville Steering Committee, and our banking team conducting several financial literacy classes with Hands4Hope youth participants. The U.S. Bank educational workshops are designed to teach high school-age youth how to: manage a budget; establish and build positive credit; create a personal brand; write an effective resume; and practice interview strategies. Why do you continue to support Hands4Hope and how does our mission to inspire and empower youth in leadership and service fit your current goals? Hands4Hope embodies the very essence of the organizations we seek to support. It fosters the well-being of our local community, while simultaneously nurturing the growth and education of local youth. In essence, by supporting Hands4Hope, we're investing in the future of El Dorado County, a place we've called home for two decades. This special community has enriched our lives in countless ways, and we hope for it to continue flourishing as a beautiful and peaceful place for generations to come. It's important that the younger folks growing up here appreciate the advantages this community provides many of them. Hands4Hope cultivates this understanding, instilling in them the sense of responsibility and the skills to extend a helping hand to those less fortunate. How do you see our shared commitment to serving the local community so important as we emerge from challenging times? Our favorite thing about Hands4Hope, other than Jen [Jennifer Bassett, Hands4Hope Founder and Executive Director], has been watching the organization grow and spread into new communities, areas where the Hands4Hope mission might have an even more profound impact than it has had in our community. Through our business, we have the good fortune to work with and become friends with families throughout the area. El Dorado Disposal has been a supporter of Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference since the beginning 15 years ago because we have always believed in the mission to empower youth to identify a need, think creatively about how to address that need, and then execute a project that is youth-led. It’s still a great formula for developing young leaders. You were essential in helping bring a Hands4Hope Youth Center to Placerville in July 2021. Please share your thoughts on the new expansion for the youth center and what it means for the youth and the community. We’ve seen the impact the Hands4Hope Youth Center at 905-A Spring Street has made in a year and want it to continue to be a safe, relaxed place where well meaning, creative planning can create life changing projects for both the community members who receive help and the youth who learn through serving. Being part of the village that worked hard to provide this building is a real honor and we look forward to seeing more great things happen because of the expansion.

We love that Hands4Hope empowers the youth in our community. It gives them the tools to first recognize a need in their community, then formulate a plan and take action to address these needs. Hands4Hope instills leadership and problem solving skills along with qualities of hard work and service that we as a company also value. The youth involved in Hands4Hope are our future community leaders and by investing in them we are investing in the future of El Dorado County. Is there anything else that you would like to add about Hands4Hope or your amazing support for our community? Our favorite Hands4Hope event of the year is always the Fall Festival, where we get to drive one of our antique tractors for the hay rides. It is such an inspiration to watch the youth in action, putting on such a fun event for our community.
