Become an Adult Participant with Hands4Hope
Thank you for choosing to participate with Hands4Hope as an Adult! We have several pathways for you to choose, based on your interests, availability, and desired level of commitment.
If working directly with those in need or with youth isn’t for you, we have many other ways for adults to contribute to organizational vision, guidance, stability, and success, such as behind-the-scenes volunteering and organizational leadership.
No matter what you choose, you will need to register as a volunteer:
There is no registration fee to participate as an adult. The annual registration fee only applies to youth.
Volunteer Perk
If you are a parent/guardian of a participant and you choose to be an Adult Lead/Mentor, your child’s registration fee is waived!
Note: Hands4Hope is unable to offer Court-Mandated Community Service / Volunteer Hours for adults, with limited exceptions for recent Hands4Hope alumni. Please see our full policy for details.
Volunteer With Your Child
If you’re looking to attend an Outreach Opportunity or Event with your child, volunteer as a family, or fulfill the requirement that elementary age youth have a parent/guardian volunteering alongside them, get started here.
- Register as a volunteer with Hands4Hope, and sign up for the specific Outreach Opportunity/Event you wish to attend with your child
- Youth must have a current registration fee status
- No fingerprinting requirement as long as you are volunteering with your child and not performing an activity leadership role
- Commitment level: Volunteer as much or as little as you would like, but if you sign up for an event, we’re counting on you to attend.
Adult Leads
Adult Leads are essential to the Hands4Hope Outreach Program. They ensure that youth participating in Outreach Opportunities and Events have a safe and successful experience. They act as a liaison with the on-site agency contact, check in/out youth, make sure youth can properly do their jobs, and communicate with Hands4Hope Staff. Adult Leads can participate as often or as little as they like, signing up for opportunities that work with their schedule. Those who participate more often find that they develop more meaningful relationships with agency partners, those in need who they are serving, and the youth who regularly participate.
- Register as a volunteer with Hands4Hope

About Adult Mentors
Adult Mentors play important roles in the Hands4Hope Education Program in After-School Committees. They provide their own subject-matter expertise to guide and mentor youth in the implementation of their committee-based service-learning project, according to the unique Hands4Hope framework. This includes attending committee meetings, communicating with youth outside of meetings, and seeing the project through—an effort that usually takes months. Adult Mentors develop meaningful relationships with youth, Hands4Hope Staff, community partners, and others, sharing a common mission of a successful project effort while helping youth develop skills they can use in school, career, and life.
