The Empty Bowls Committee is now accepting new participants!
Through this after-school service-learning opportunity, youth Empty Bowls Committee participants learn how to plan and implement a large-scale fundraising event to benefit those who are experiencing food insecurity in our community and internationally. The Empty Bowls Dinner, now a long-running community tradition in its 27th year, will take place on Saturday, February 20, 2027 at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville and is expected to attract 500+ attendees.
The Committee can have 8-15 participants who commit to 30-40 hours of service between November and February, as well as lead the Empty Bowls Dinner Event. Responsibilities include selecting beneficiaries, marketing, decorating, coordinating with vendors, working with artists and schools to collect and prepare bowls, volunteer management and food donor management, and hosting the event. Note that committee leaders have already been chosen, but every committee participant plays an important role in bringing this event to life!
